Eligibility For M.Sc. Computer Science:

i. Any Science Graduate with at least one Optional Subject as Computer Science. OR B.Sc. Computer Science OR B.Sc. IT OR B.E/B. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering.
ii. Qualifying degree percentage: Minimum 45% for open and 40% for reserved category.

Eligibility For M.Sc. Information Technology:

i. Any Science Graduate with at least mathematics in 12th Standard OR B.Sc. Computer Science OR B.Sc. IT OR B.E/B. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering
ii. Qualifying degree percentage: Minimum 45% for open and 40% for reserved category.

Eligibility For M.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering:

Appendix-“A”

REGULATIONS

Regulation-1969 Title and Commencement:

  • These regulations shall be called the regulations for the M.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) programme of this University.
  • This regulation shall come into force from the date, the competent authority decides and notifies on its behalf.

Regulation-1970  M.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering):

It will be a regular four semester course, of the University or in its affiliated Institute/College.

Regulation-1971  Duration of the Programme

The normal and maximum duration for the completion of M.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) course will be two years consisting of four semesters.

Regulation-1972

  • The maximum duration of the programme includes the period of withdrawal, absence and different kinds of leave permissible to a student. However, it will exclude the period of rustication, if any.
  • Extension in Maximum Duration: Maximum duration may be extended in exceptional cases on genuine grounds, by the Vice Chancellor for the completion of M.Tech. Programme.

Regulation-1973   Scheme and Structure

The scheme and structure of M.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) programme is given separately in the teaching/examination scheme. The course components and credits for the specified course components, both of these may be amended/modified in accordance with the decision of the concerned faculty and/or the Academic Council from time to time.

Regulation-1974

The course offered in an semester shall be continually assessed and evaluated to judge the performance of a student.

Regulation-1975  Course Code:

Each course offered by the university shall be identified by a course code, as specified in the Ordinances/Regulations of the Examination.

Regulation-1976

  • In case a candidate fails in one or more heads of passingat the M.Tech Semester –I examination after taking that examination at the end of first term as regular student, he/she will be allowed to appear again for only those heads of passing in which he/she has failed at his/her immediately subsequent semester - I examination.
  • That the marks obtained by the candidate at semester – I examination should be carried forward unless the candidate desires to appear for paper in which he/she has failed.
  • In case a candidate fails in one or more heads of passing at semester-I examination, he/she will be allowed to appear again only for the heads of passing in which he/she has failed.
  • In case a candidate fails at the Semester fails at the semester II examination for want of aggregate of 50%, he/she will be allowed to appear in one or more theory paper heads of this option, in which he/she has obtained less that 50% marks.
  • A candidate failing in the heads of passing of semester-III and Semester-IV will be allowed to reappear for those heads of passing under Semester-III and Semester-IV after he/she reproduce the dissertation work with guided improvements.

Regulation-1977

To pass the examination a candidate must obtain minimum of 40% marks in each theory paper and class test taken together, however the candidate should obtain minimum 35% marks in the theory examination and 50% marks in each of the term work and practical/oral examination and also a minimum aggregate of 50% of the total marks obtainable at the M.Tech. Semester – I and Semester-II Examination.

To pass a subject where there is no provision of class test, the candidate must obtain 40% of marks in theory examination.

Two class tests should be conducted in a semester for a subject. The best performance out of the two class tests should be forwarded to the university by the Department/college along with the term work marks.

If a candidate fails to secure 40% of marks at theory and class test taken together he/she will have to appear again for that theory examination and in no case he/she shall be allowed for improvement in class test and the original performance of class test will be carried forward.

Regulation-1977

  • Candidate who secures 50% or more but less than 60% marks in the aggregate and pass the examination will be declared to have passed the examination in second division.
  • Candidate who secures 60 % or more but less than 70% marks in the aggregate and pass the examination will be declared to have passed the examination in the first division.
  • Candidate who secures 70 % or more but less than 70% marks in the aggregate and pass the examination will be declared to have passed the examination in the first division with distinction.
  • The candidate who is already declared successfully in the examination under Regulation -1978 (a)(b)(c), me be allowed to reappear for improvement of his/her performance in the examination at his/her option provided.
  • For such an improvement of class, candidate will be allowed to appear for the examination within a period of three years from the examination in which he/she has been declared successful.
  • A candidate will be permitted to appear for a maximum of two theory papers only for such improvement and he/she will be permitted upto a maximum of three consecutive examinations.
  • A candidate appearing under this clause will not be entitled to get the benefit of gracing under any other rules or ordinances and that he/she will not be eligible to get rank, scholarship, medals, awards etc.
  • Such candidate shall submit the examination form for improvement through the Department/college from which he/she has obtained original degree.
  • A candidate improving under this clause will have to surrender his/her original documents i.e. degree and the statement of marks to the university before obtaining the revised degree and statement of marks.
  • This facility of improvement will be available for candidate who has joined and obtained degree in this faculty.
  • If a candidate fails to improve his/her class, his/her performance at such examination will be ignored.

Regulation -1979 Dissertation

  A student enrolled for M. Tech.(Computer Science  and Engineering )  degree has to undertake dissertation work at the start of second of second year of the programme involving in- depth study and critical review of the topic and the creation of new knowledge in the area either through development of new techniques, instruments, experimental facility and/ or new experimental findings and/ or theoretical and fundamental insight or by reinterpretation of the existing facts to propound new theory.

Regulation-1980 Minimum number of Students in a Course/ Programme :

  • Normally, a course shall not run unless minimum of six students register for it.
  • A post graduate programme shall normally be run by the university / Institute, only if a minimum of 40% of sanctioned during of the students are admitted for the programme.

Regulation -1981 Attendance Requirements for a Course/ Programme

             A post graduate student must have a minimum attendance of 75%of the total number of classes including lectures, tutorials and practicals, held in a course in order to appear at the University Examination for that course. Attendance of the students shall be monitored and displayed during a semester as per the guidelines of the University / Institute.

Regulation -1982 Course Coordinator and Faculty Advisor:

HOD may appoint a faculty member as course coordinator for M. Tech. PG programme .The course Coordinator shall be responsible for the proper coordination and conduct of the course, including the performance of the students. The performance evaluation shall be through tutorials, term and end – term examinations, and the award of the marks.

HOD appoint a faculty member as a faculty advisor for  The students for M. Tech PG programme run by the department. The course coordinator and the faculty advisor may be the same person or two different persons, member and not below the rank of Associate professor, the Faculty Advisor shall closely interact with the students, advise them on the courses to be taken in a semester and provide counseling for the smooth progress of the students.

Regulation-1983 Course Evaluation  

            A student shall be evaluated for his/her academic performance in a course through tutorials, home work, assignments, term papers, filed work, seminars, quizzes, class test etc. as applicable at the college level. The answer books of class tests are to be shown to the students and discrepancies, if any, as may be brought out by any student may be rectified by the examiner and thereafter the result will be finalized. End semester examination in every course shall be conducted by the university. The maximum marks in course shall be as per the scheme announced by the university and class shall be awarded to a student on the basis of percentage of marks secured by the students.

Regulation -1984 maximum Period for Completion of the Course

            Two years M. Tech. programme requires a minimum of four semesters for fulltime programme. The maximum Duration for the completion of the given programme for being eligible to the PG degree shall be four years.

Regulation -1985 Interpretation of regulations:

            In case of any dispute or difference  of opinion in interpretation of these regulations or any other matter not covered in these regulations, the decision of the Vice Chancellor shall be final and binding. Appeal on such decisions, if any, may be permitted by the Council.

Regulation -1986 Emergent Cases:

            Notwithstanding anything contained in the above regulation, the Vice- Chancellor may, in emergent situation, take such action an behalf of the Academic Council, as the deems appropriate and report it to the net meeting of the Council for its approval.

Eligibility For M. Phil. Computer Science:

The degree of M. Phil. shall be conferred on a candidate who has satisfied the following conditions: The candidate must have taken 12th Science, Under Graduate in Science or Engineering with M. Sc. in Computer Science or M. Sc. Information Technology or MCA Engineering and Technology or Science Faculty or M.E. /M. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering or Information Technology Degree with at least 55% marks and 50% for the reserve category. Candidates of this University or of any other statutory University where the grading system is prevalent he should have passed the degree in equivalent cumulative Grade Point Average.
