About department

Department of Statistics is a UGC SAP DRS assisted department. Very few departments have got this status. The Department has highly qualified and motivated faculty members. The Department offers M. A. /M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Statistics subject. The intake capacity for M.Sc. is 32 plus over and above quota as per the rules of University. The intake capacity for Ph.D. is as per quota and vacancies with the guide. Since 2016-17 academic year choice based credit and grading system with 110 credits are included in M.Sc. syllabus with four credits to Service Course and twenty four credits purely for research are included in the M.Sc. Syllabus. This will help the students to understand research in the subject since first semester.

Further, the syllabus of the course of M.A. / M.Sc. is designed as per guidelines framed by UGC and at par with NET / SET syllabi. Live project work is a part of the M.Sc. curriculum which provides students the exposure to industries and other NGO / Semi Govt. / Govt. Institutes for data collection and analysis.
