School of Professional Studies:- The following departments are grouped in this school,
a) Department of Mass Communication and Journalism: The department came into existence on 23rd August 1973. Its biggest contribution is the creation of several journalists presently working in local, regional and State level news papers and TV Channels. Project in making is the Digital studio. The Second Project is numero - Uno project for launching MEDIA WEB CHANNEL which is a multi-media web platform for global media students.
b) Department of Chemical Technology: The department commenced in 1994. The Pharmaceutical Industry and Food Technology is closely associated with the department. The department has designed laboratories on advanced technological model. It has signed MoUs with Shreya Life Sciences and National Institute of Jammu, IIM. It has ISO 900: 2008 certification. It is one of the Departments with good citation index and high number of major projects. The only department with Three Patents that include - Title of invention - Organophosphorus esters of N-Hydroxy-2-Furan Benzimidazole. India, Patent No.247978, dated 10-06-2011. Title of Invention - Process for isolation of Kaur - 16 ene - 19 - oic acid from Annona squamosa linn bark. Patentrio. 246385, dated 04-03-2011. Title of invention - Process for production of Warfarin acid. Journal no. 38/2007, dated 19-09-2008. It has major projects under SAP / FIST / MODROBS.
c) Department of Tourism Administration: Originated in 1994, it was the first department to start its teething years with Semester System and 50% practical orientation. The only University department to start post graduation in Tourism Administration in the State of Maharashtra and churn out trained manpower for tourism and travel industry. Presently it has three major research projects to it’s credit and six research fellows.
d) Department of Law: This is a separate department with regular faculty established in 2005. The department is actively associated with District and High Court Legal Service Authorities. It is also associated with WALMI JMFC (after recruitment), Training Programme that is run by Mumbai High court Bench at Aurangabad, through the department’s academic input. The greatest achievement of the Department is the sanction of Rs.3.75 crores for the construction of Law School by the Government of Maharashtra, the project which is already in progress.
e) Department of Printing Technology: A very young department launched in 2009 and unique for the region in offering technical training in Printing and has 100% job oriented potential. The department fortunately has a sound future as there are several local newspapers published from Aurangabad. For the purpose there is good demand for technical hands.
In the beginning the Management Science was a part of the Commerce Department, but it became an independent department in 2007. It has initiated Mentorship programme for foster student’s academic, personal & social excellence. The department has a separate Placement Cell that organizes placement for in plant training in local as well as regional industries.
