We feel proud to organize an International event in our Department in the International year of Statistics 2013. The purpose of International year of Statistics is to promote the importance of Statistics, through the combined energies of societies and organizations worldwide, to the broader scientific community, business and government data users, the media, policy makers, employers, students, and the general public.
Aim of the Conference:
The aim of the conference is to bring researchers, academician, and corporate people in statistical theory to common platform. Exchange of new innovations and ideas through novel ways, inspiring the young minds to galvanize the research arena and expanding the scientific horizons of statistical thinking are the important objectives of the conference. The target of hosting the conference is to make the meet a rendezvous of statistical researchers to explore their remarkable contributions and journey through new vistas of the "Recent Advances In Statistics And Their Applications". This is expected to excel the creativity of the delegates and spur them to contribute remarkable and productive research outputs.
There have been significant developments in the field of Statistics, these developments are now been applied to various fields. About the University
Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad has been the prime educational institute of Marathwada region established on 23rd August, 1958 .NAAC has accredited the university as B+. Dr.BAMU has jurisdiction of four districts - Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed and Osmanabad. University has recently celebrated the Golden jubilee of its foundation with motto knowledge is sacred and is the source of enlightenment. More than 400 colleges are affiliated to this university. The region has rural background & most of the students coming to this university are from socially and economically backward classes.. The University is located on a spacious beautiful and picturesque campus sprawling over 700 acres. The University has almost all the departments which are catering the needs of the students in modern times.
About Department of Statistics
The Department of Statistics was establishment in the year 1968. The Department offers M.A/M.Sc. and Ph.D. courses. The Department has highly qualified faculty members. The thrust areas of research are Advanced Sampling, Operations Research, Industrial Statistics, Actuarial Statistics and Design of Experiments. The glory of the Department is reflected in our Alumni holding responsible positions in prestigious fields. . The network of the alumni of this department is spread all over the world. Recently, University Grants Commission has recognized this department through UGC-SAP-DRS-I program. The department has well equipped computer lab with 60 PCs with internet facility and Statistical software like SPSS, SYSTAT, MATLAB. Departmental and central library have a fairly rich collection of book and journals.

Aurangabad is a Historic city located in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. The city is tourist hub having many world class monuments in around like Ajanta & Ellora caves which are UNESCO world heritage sites. Daulatabad Fort, Bibi ka Makbara (Replica of Taj Mahal), Panchakki. Religious places like Shirdi (Saibaba Temple), Ghrushneswar (Jyotirlinga) and Shanishignapur are also situated near Aurangabad. Recently, Aurangabad has been declared as tourist capital of Maharashtra.

How to reach:
Aurangabad is well connected by Air, Railway (SCR) and Roads to Mumbai, Hyderabad, New Delhi.
Aurangabad has direct flights (Air India/Jet Airlines) to and from Mumbai and New Delhi. Aurangabad airport is located at Chikalthana at a distance of 18 kms from the Aurangabad University Campus. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at Mumbai takes about 45 minutes to reach Aurangabad by air.
By Rail (South Central Railway)
There are daily trains connecting Mumbai, New Delhi and Hyderabad to Aurangabad. Manmad (130 Kms.), Bhusaval (165 Kms.) and Jalgaon (150 Kms.) are nearest railway junctions.
Aurangabad is well connected by a good road network connecting it to various cities and towns across India. Various government as well as private agencies offers daily bus services to various destinations in the state of Maharashtra and the neighboring states.
Climate and clothing
Climate in Aurangabad during December would be pleasant. Days would be warm with maximum temperature of about 30 degrees Celsius and nights would be cooler with a minimum temperature of about 10 degrees Celsius. Cottons during the day and woolens during evening/night are recommended.
