Vision

The Department of Sanskrit aims to be one of the best university departments of Sanskrit in India. It will be the endeavour of the Department to provide proper grounding to students in areas like literature , linguistics, philosophy, poetics Sanskirt shastras etc. Over the next few years, the department plans to start many new initiatives, activities and programmes for the benefit of the students and development of the department.

Objectives


The Department of Sanskrit plans to categories the objectives into four parts, viz. Academic Objectives, Infrastructure Development Objectives, community Service Objectives & Other Objectives.

Academic Objectives

Updating curriculum

  • Sanskrit is an ancient yet modern discipline. The scope of Sanskrit is getting ever wider day by day. Keeping this in view, the Department of Sanskrit has recently revised & updated syllabus and implemented it from June 2011 for M.A. Course.
  • The Department is committed to revise and update its syllabus every three yrs.

Introducing Service Courses

Sanskrit has an interdisciplinary relevance. Keeping in view the interdisciplinary relevance of Sanskrit, the Department of Sanskrit intends to start certificate/service /bridge courses.

Organizing National / International workshops / Seminars / Conferences

  • The Department of Sanskrit intends to organize one National level workshop / Conference every year
  • Themes for these events would be based on topics of current relevance and Sanskrit Grammar.

Sanskrit Literary Association Activities

The Sanskrit Literary Association has been formed to organize literary events for students. Various Eminent scholars from other universities interact with students on various areas of knowledge in Sanskrit. Every year the Sanskrit Day / Sanskrit week is celebrated in the department by undertaking various activities. The department will also arrange a counseling session to apprise student of job opportunities in Sanskrit.

Research Objectives

i) Improving the quality and standard of research undertaken in the department.

ii) Picking up various research themes ranging from Linguistics, Sanskrit Poetics, Philosophy, Dramatics, Sanskrit Shastras etc.

iii) To author reference books, articles

iv) To take up major and minor research projects in sanskrit.

Infrastructure Development

The faculty intends to apply to Govt. of Maharashtra, U.G.C. & Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Delhi for infrastructure development. The faculty intends to apply for minor / major research projects of U.G.C. These projects will help in generating financial resources for creating infrastructure like books, computers, printers, cameras etc.

Community Services Objectives

Organizing poster exhibition on Science & Technology in sanskrit literature & interdisciplinary relevance of sanskrit. Organizing visits to schools / colleges in small towns to make people aware about sanskrit.

Other Objectives

i) To Strengthen the Alumni Association.

ii) To establish Parents Teacher Association.

Objectives

The Department of Sanskrit aims to be one of the best university departments of Sanskrit in India. It will be the endeavor of the Department to provide proper grounding to students in areas like literature, linguistics, philosophy, poetics Sanskirt shastras etc. Over the next few years, the department plans to start many new initiatives, activities and programmes for the benefit of the students and development of the department. The Department of Sanskrit intends to classify the objectives into 3 parts viz.

Academic objectives, Infrastructure Development Objectives & Other Objectives.

Academic Objectives

  • To frame a curriculum that is in conformity with other Universities in India & abroad.
  • Updating and revising the curriculum at regular intervals. 
  • To introduce diploma & certificate courses on Sanskrit Grammar & Vedic Chanting.
  • The department aims to start M.Phil course in Sanskrit.
  • The department proposes to implement a syllabi incorporating linkages with national & international languages related to sanskrit.
  • The department intends to impart teaching in sanskrit medium to facilitate easy understanding among students from other states and abroad.
  • Imparting education in Sanskrit medium will be a unique speciality of the department of Sanskrit. 
  • To organize conferences / seminars / workshops on various topics of academic interest.

Research Objectives

Infrastructure related objectives:

• Construction work for a new building for Sanskrit Department with various facilities is in progress.

• The department intends to set up a departmental library and well equipped language lab (with audio visual aids, computer, DVD’S, CD’S ) in the new building.

• To make optimum use of computers in teaching & research process.

• To provide internet Facilities to students and faculty of the department to keep them abreast of latest developments in research in sanskrit language & literature.

Other objectives

• To establish stronger community linkage through process of interaction with the society at large.

• To develop stronger alumni association to cultivate the source of funding to the department.

• Increasing exposure to students through student exchange programme with other universities.

• Counseling students for NET / SET / UPSC / MPSC etc. Exams.
