Pattern of CET

  1. A. (English)
  2. Students those who are seeking admission to M. A. and M.Phil. (English) in the Department for an Academic Year 2016-2017 have to go through the CET Examination. The test will consist of 50 marks and there shall be a weightage of 50 marks for consistent good academic record from S.S.C. onwards.

The final merit list of provisionally selected candidates will be prepared based on 50% Marks from Qualifying Degree Score and 50% Marks from CET Score. The students appeared in Final Year of Bachelor’s Degree or previously passed are eligible for CET Examination.

Exam Pattern of CET
  • CET question paper is of 50 marks on multiple choice questions of one our duration.
    Section (A) Basic Grammar: 15 marks,
    Section (B) Comprehension and Precise Writing: 10 Marks,
    Section (C) Unseen Poems and Prose : 10 Marks,
    Section (D) Classical Literary Texts : 10 Marks

Section (E) Essay Writing : 05 Marks


  1. M.Phil in English

Those students who are seeking admission to M. Phil. in English in the Department for Academic Year 2016-2017 have to go through the CET Examination. The final merit list of provisionally selected candidates will be prepared based on evaluation criteria mentioned in evaluation.

Objectives and Features of the course

The course is designed to motivate the analytical and critical ability through research perspective.

Research work/dissertation work would be carried out under the guidance of the highly qualified teachers in the Department. To get research training to simplify Ph. D. work.
